Volunteer Opportunities

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the volunteer activities of the Friends of White Clay Creek State Park - you don't even need to be a member. Some of the Friends' activities and projects are listed below. For more information, please contact our project coordinator or follow the links to additional information where available below.

Also, you can submit a volunteer interest survey (in pdf format) if you think you might like to volunteer. To express your interests, please print out the questionnaire, complete it, and mail it to us.


  • Adopt-a-Trail (monthly and after-storm monitoring and light maintenance of your adopted trail)
  • Bird box monitoring and maintenance (weekly during nesting season)
  • Water ice sales at summer concerts in the park (occasional)
  • Trail work (trail construction and maintenance)
  • Trash cleanup (along creek, trails, or roads)
  • Member recruitment (membership committee; help with community event displays)
  • Light construction/carpentry (e.g.: bulletin boards, props for park programs, park benches)
  • Publicity, publications, public education
  • Land acquisition/other advocacy
  • Fundraising
  • Habitat restoration and reforestation
  • Nature Center staffing (greet visitors one 2.5-hour Sunday shift per month, Mar-Oct)
  • Support for park programs (assist park staff)
  • Judge Morris historic house support group (programs, decorations, gardens, maintenance)
  • Develop/upgrade exhibits for the Nature Center
  • Record oral histories; develop historical publications for park visitors
  • Lead park activity (e.g., bird or wildflower walk, or other activity of your choosing)
  • Gardening (native plant and flower gardens)
  • Assist Friends organization with administrative and clerical work
  • Project leadership (to help coordinate a project in the park)
